Soufriere Bay & Champagne Beach
A weekly adventure took several spouses to Soufriere Bay
& Champagne Beach. This was my
second time out snorkeling since my arrival.

Soufriere is a small village outside of Roseau, the capital
city. The bay itself is a submarine volcano, in which the vent heat the
seawater in the pool at the water's edge. In fact, there is a small spa that
you could stop in!
Soufriere Bay was a black
sand beach with large boulders and dramatic underwater walls.

The second stop was to Champagne
Beach. Unlike Soufriere, Champagne Beach was a white sand beach. The water was
a little murky, however, the “champagne” bubbles were still obvious. Champagne
Beach was named because of the small gas bubbles that continuously rise from
the sea floor (like bubbles in a glass).
